Crib Craziness

Hey friends,
I need some opinions from y'all (especially parents) or non-firstborns about crib selection.
We went crib shopping this weekend, but we can't decide if we want/need a convertible bed that eventually becomes a full size bed or if we should save $200 and just get a regular crib.
Who's to say that our kid will be in a room that can hold a full size bed and other stuff? I always had a twin. THEN, what if the next kid or two has a smaller room that can only hold a twin, but the first born has this fancy bedroom suite b/c Ryan & I had money now that we won't later?!?!
BUT, since my parents have offered to buy the crib and are open to buying the convertible, should we take advantage of that offer and then our kid will definitely have a nice bed? We can use the other money in the budget to get a dresser & rocker. I mean, should we not get a nice bedroom suite for this kid because we MIGHT not have money to do it for the others? Convertible cribs are all the rage. Should we go with the flow?
Who knew the crib purchase could impact our entire future family's dynamics and sense of worth? :D

We are liking the white furniture with the bedding by Cocolo called "Tropical Punch", BUT nothing is set in stone.

We are actually the crib I had as a baby, but before we knew that was an option we had decided against the convertable crib b/c we voted to do a neutral nursery in hopes God would give us additional children who could use the same nursery so the crib would stay with that set up. We just got a changing table/dresser to mathc. Hope our two cents helps!

I say go for the convertible crib because we are at the phase of getting rid of baby stuff and needing furniture for our growing kids and guests. If we had gotten a convertible crib (we went garage sale) then Hope would be sleeping in it now and we'd have a great place for guests when they sleep over. It's likely you'll have a boy and a girl eventually, though not guaranteed, so you'd probably have them in separate rooms and there would be space for the double bed.
I do have a friend that has her two little girls sleep in a double bed together and they love it.
Either way you'll be great parents and your child will be loved and that's all that matters.:)

we went w/ a convertable and loved it. Crib to toddler bed was great.

Since our kids are in the same room there isn't space for a double bed (both in their own twin w/o headboard). However when they are in the tween years we plan on putting them in seperate rooms and using that headboard to match the nice furniture once again.

Someone else paying for it certainly over-rides the potential rivalry it may bring about years from now. :)
